The Science
This is a visual and textual piece describing the struggle in an individual day of an individual researcher. The science is about finding out if pericyte loss (a cell type that supports capillary blood vessels) can cause heart failure. The piece is left deliberately open ended, with no conclusions drawn.
The Poet
Steven Simmonds is an English biomedical researcher who lives and works in Leuven, Belgium. When not found behind the microscope he likes to try and bring science and research to a broader audience, experimenting with a wide variety of different media to achieve this.
